3. Using the scraper, remove the majority of the carbon from the interior of the valve. 4. Spray the interior of the valve with the oven cleaner and leave from 5 minutes or so to soak. WARNING - some oven cleaners can attack the aluminium body of the valve and make it look like the moths have been at it.
Jan 4, 2010. #9. But if you want to check and clean it, just remove 3 forward facing allen head bolts around the EGR, and pull it out towards the front of the car. Then vacuum any chunks that fell off so they do not get pulled into the cylinders when you start it. Then clean the EGR.
Anyway, it cleaned right up. When I went to put it back on the car, I get an EGR code. 17808 - EGR Valve (N18) P1400-000 Electrical Malfunction. The car's been without battery for a long time while I had the tranny off, waiting for a clutch. Taking the tiny cap off, everything underneath looks perfect.
